Borneo is much larger than java, in fact with a size of 746.305 km2 it is the third largest island in the world (after Greenland and New Guinea). Administratively it is divided into the four Indonesian provinces of West, Central, East and South Kalimantan, the two autonomous Malaysian states Sabah and Sarawak and the Brunei Sultanate. The Indonesian part of Borneo covers some three quarters of the total land area of Borneo.
